Legal papers, bills, correspondence, deeds, leases, accounts, genealogy, and other papers of General Philip John Schuyler, John Bradstreet Schuyler, Philip Jeremiah Schuyler, George L. Schuyler, and other family members. Correspondence includes letters of Gen. Schuyler to his son Philip Jeremiah, 1795-1804, letters of Philip Jeremiah to his brother John, 1789-1794, and letters among Mary Ann Schuyler (Mrs. Philip Jeremiah), her parents Dr. and Mrs. Micajah Sawyer, and her brother William Sawyer, 1807-1822. Subjects include health and family affairs, collecting rent on manor lands, lime kilns needed for canal construction, land transactions, getting lumber and wheat to market, construction of a house, instructions to tenants for services due, marriages, school experiences, servants, and children. Other items include letters from Gen. Schuyler to his secretary Capt. Richard Varick concerning provisions, movement of troops, prisoners, and other military matters, 1776; copies of speeches, letters, and a petition to and from Philip Schuyler and Indian tribes, 1775-1795; copies of depositions relating to the military campaign in Canada, 1775-1776; and reminiscences of Mary Ann Sawyer Schuyler written after 1820.
